November 9, 2017

On Saturday 10/28, three teams of Carleton students competed in the ACM North Central North America Regional Programming Contest.  Macalester College was the local host for the 5-hour competition, with teams from Carleton, St. Olaf, and several other nearby schools competing there.  Over 200 teams competed simultaneously across all sites in the region.

The Carleton team consisting of Dylan Zeng, Jerry Liu, and Xingfan Xia successfully solved 2 problems, placing them in the top half of the region.  The other 2 Carleton teams (Schillers: Claire Tagoe, Nick Spinale, and Huiji Ying) and (Knights: Gabriel Brookman, Yuheng Wang, and Weijia Ma)  both completed an impressive 4 problems, which was the most any liberal arts school solved, placing them in the top 10% of all regional teams.  Only 12 of the 200+ teams completed more than 4 problems.

Congratulate them all for their awesome performance! Click here for the final rankings.
