Join Rick Eckstein, professor of sociology at Villanova University, Tuesday, April 18, 7-8:15pm in the library Athenaeum to learn about how women’s intercollegiate sports threatens higher education. In his new book How College Athletics are Hurting Girls’ Sports: the Pay-To-Play Pipeline, Eckstein critically examines the commodification, masculinization, and inequities in girls’ and women’s sports, as well as the unfortunate ironies of Title IX.
