Ed Studies Movie Night

Wed, October 19, 2016 • 7:00pm - 9:00pm (2h) • Leighton 305

Join us for Ed Studies Movie Night, Wednesday, October 19, 7:00-9:00PM in Leighton 305 for Underwater Dreams.

Underwater Dreams, written and directed by Mary Mazzio, and narrated by Michael Peña, is the epic story of how the sons of undocumented Mexican immigrants learned how to build an underwater robot from Home Depot parts. And defeat engineering powerhouse MIT in the process.

This film screened at the White House in Spring, 2015 coming on the heels of a new coalition of corporate funders, educational institutions and non-profits, all galvanized together to fund STEM education for under-represented students. Called the Let Everyone Dream Coalition, we are at $100 million and counting.

The film also opened Clinton Global (with Chelsea Clinton moderating) and screened at the Aspen Ideas Festival (with Jonathan Alter moderating). The film embarked upon a 100 city tour in partnership with AMC Theatres where non-profits and educators were able to bring large groups of students to their local AMC to see the film on the big screen.  Free of charge.
