The Carleton English Department sponsors a number of events during the course of the academic year. Everyone is welcome to attend the readings, lectures, and other presentations that are described below.

An Evening with Li-Young Lee featuring David Whetstone

Join us for an evening of poetry read by distinguished author Li-Young Lee, with musical accompaniment by sitarist David Whetstone.

Li-Young Lee is the author of five critically-acclaimed books of poetry: The Undressing (2018), Behind My Eyes (2008), Book of My Nights (2001), The City in Which I Loved You (1991), and Rose (1986). His 1995 memoir, The Winged Seed: A Remembrance, was honored with an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation. Lee has received fellowships from numerous organizations, including the National Endowment for the Arts, The Lannan Foundation, and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, among others.
