Linguistics Colloquium

Fri, September 20, 2019 • 4:00pm - 5:00pm (1h) • Leighton 236

Dr. Ariel James (Department of Psychology, Macalester College) will present some work she's done trying to predict comprehension differences among young adult readers presented with syntactically complex sentences. Does working memory predict how long readers spend reading tricky relative clauses? Or does vocabulary? Both? She also address a 'two-disciplines problem' she's been grappling with; not psychology vs. linguistics, but experimental vs. correlational traditions within psychology.
