Carleton welcomes the SPCO with Ruth Reinhardt conducting, and Zachary Cohen, double bass.

From Honegger’s sultry embrace of the summer dawn to Schubert’s effervescent Fifth Symphony, this vibrant music celebrates the bright flush of youth. Two trailblazers — Poland’s Grazyna Bacewicz from the last century, and America’s own Missy Mazzoli, a millennial superstar — honor the resonant harmonies and lucid textures of Baroque masterpieces, as rendered in their vivid scores for stringed instruments. Ruth Reinhardt, hailed by The Seattle Times for her “incandescent talent,” leads this illuminating program.
