Rajan & Sajan Misra IIIn Bhairav Se Bhairavi Tak, the Spectrum of Ragas from Sunrise to Sunset, some of India’s greatest artists take us to a world of peace and bliss. 

Bhairav Se Bhairavi Tak was conceptualized by Saloni Gandhi and features the legendary Hindustani Vocalists Pandits Rajan Misra & Sajan Misra; Shantilal Shah, tabla; and Sumit Mishra, harmonium. The program presents the spectrum of morning to evening Ragas (from Raga Bhairav to Raga Bhairavi). Music being a language that connects without boundaries, this concert is a humble effort to reach out and connect the worlds through the medium of music.


Rajan & Sajan MisraThe inimitable duo of Indian classical music Padmabhushan Pandit Rajan & Pandit Sajan Misra do not need any introduction for Indian music lovers. Among the very best leading Indian classical vocalists today, they represent a distinguished musical lineage. This duo has a huge following of Indian as well as International music lovers. Their music carries the sound of the most ancient city on the earth - Kashi - and embraces those sensibilities to reach out to the contemporary world.

Shantilal Shah has been studying and performing Indian Classical Music with intense passion for the last 40 years. After his initial training under Pandit Mahadev Prasad Mishra of the Banaras Gharana, he became a disciple of Taal-Yogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. He has accompanied many eminent Hindustani vocal & instrumental musicians. Along with his accomplishments in the field of Hindustani Classical Music, he was also a featured performer in the 2004 Hollywood film, Dancing in Twilight, and in the Houston Grand Opera’s acclaimed Operetta, River of Light, in 2014. He has trained many disciples with passion and dedication and many of them are professional musicians today. He is based in Houston, TX.

One of the most prominent harmonium players of India, Sumit Mishra will accompany. Learning music from his Father Pt. Sohan Lal Mishra & his uncle Pt. Mohan Lal Mishra, his family is said to be the torchbearers of the Banaras Gharana (musical lineage) of India. Sumit has performed with many eminent musicians in India and abroad.

This stop at Carleton is part of an extensive world tour produced by Ms. Saloni Gandhi. As a profession she is working with the traditional weavers and crafts people of India and has a textile studio in Delhi which she runs with a friend and partner. Her passion for Indian Music prompted her to envisage and work on this mammoth venture.

This tour is officially supported by the Government of India, and ICCR, and Air India.

This event is free, unticketed, and open to the public.
