Off-Campus Studies Statistics

Carleton continues to have high levels of participation in off-campus study. 389 students, or 19% of the student body, participated in off-campus studies 407 times for academic credit during the 2017-18 academic year (summer through spring, including winter and spring breaks).

For the 2018 senior class, during their four-year Carleton career, 369 students, or 76% of the senior class, studied 455 times off-campus. They participated in 122 different programs in 54 countries.

In the class of 2018, the following majors had 100% of their students participate in off-campus studies:

  • Asian Studies
  • Environmental Studies
  • French and Francophone Studies
  • German
  • Music
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Studio Art
  • Theater Arts
  • Women's and Gender Studies
  • Special Majors (Cognitive Science, Japanese Language & Literature, Political Philosophy, and Political Philosophy/History)

70% or more of these majors participated in off-campus studies:

  • English
