Off-Campus Studies Statistics

Carleton continues to have high levels of participation in off-campus study. During the 2014-15 academic year, 409 students, or 20% of the student body, participated in off-campus studies 431 times for academic credit during the academic year, the December winter break, the spring break, and in the summer.

Of the 486 students in the graduating class of 2015, 339 (70%) individuals studied 429 times off-campus during their four years. They participated in 134 different programs in 47 countries.

In the class of 2015, the following majors had 100% of their students participate in off-campus studies:

  • African/African American Studies
  • Asian Studies
  • Latin American Studies
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Theater 

In addition, 100% of Special Majors participated in off-campus study programs.

Over 70% of students in these majors studied off-campus:

  • Environmental Studies
  • Geology
  • History
  • Mathematics & Statistics
  • Political Science (POSC & POSI)
  • Religion
