Humane Treatment of Animals: Phil 243 students give class @ Just Foods

Carleton Animal Ethics students will give class at Just Foods Coop in Northfield on the humane treatment of farm animals.

Having visited local farms, interviewed local farmers and taken an animal ethics course, Carleton students will present their proposals and invite discussion on what stance and guidelines the The Real Food Challenge should adopt with regard to meat and, in particular, the treatment of farm animals.

The primary goal of the Real Food Challenge is to shift (by 2020) $1 billion of university food budgets away from factory farms and junk foods and toward “Real Food” - i.e., "local/community-based, fair, ecologically sound and humane food sources.” Learn more about the Real Food Challenge:
