Nuclear Fusion

Fusion power is favored for many reasons. If man-made fusion succeeds on Earth, it will be a clean, safe, efficient and unlimited energy source for us. For decades people wanted to harness this ideal energy source, but it has proved to be a tremendously difficult quest. Over the past sixty years, fusion science has developed significantly, and progress is made in various experiments around the world. This paper reviews the basics of fusion science and the current status of fusion research, including the necessary nuclear and plasma physics, different reactor designs using different confinement methods, and a prospect for future fusion power plants.
