Total Lunar Eclipse Observation

What:

Total Eclipse of the Moon.

When: Sunday Night, January 20, 2019.

View from home or from Carleton’s Goodsell Observatory

Observatory open 9:30-11:30 PM if clear

 

Partial Eclipse Begins at 9:34 pm

Totality Starts at 10:41 pm

Mid-Totality Occurs at 11:12 pm

Totality Ends at 11:44 pm

 

Interested persons will have a great view of the eclipse from their own home, particularly if they have binoculars or a small telescope. If it is clear, the eclipse may also be viewed at Carleton’s Goodsell Observatory between 9:30 – 11:30 PM.   Dress warmly, as the domes are not heated!    

Open houses are  open to the community and also regularly  held the first Friday of each month. Times vary.  A schedule is on the web at http://go.carleton.edu/observatory .   If it is cloudy or partly cloudy, a final decision regarding the open house will be posted at that website by one hour before the start time.
