Carleton’s Sociology and Anthropology (SOAN) department explores how different parts of society affect each other. We study how society and environment interact, and we examine how coexisting nations influence each other. Our coursework includes research inside and outside the classroom. Every other winter term, professor Meera Sehgal co-leads the Globalization and Local Responses in India program that explores how individuals and groups navigate social structures and institutions in India’s globalizing economy.
