Carleton Players present Anton Chekhov’s “The Three Sisters”

“All of life and human relations have become so incomprehensibly complex,” writes Anton Chekhov, “that, when you think about it, it becomes terrifying and your heart stands still.” In his The Three Sisters, Chekhov’s characters, like all of us, are gripped by this terror: Who or what do I love? What have I accomplished with my life? Does my life have meaning? What difference does anything make? These are the questions haunting the three Prozorov sisters, plucked from their beautiful Moscow life as children and dropped into a provincial Russian backwater. Now come of age, will they be able to fulfill their greatest desire and return to the city of their memory? In the pursuit of this dream, marriages are made and broken, lovers taken and lost, children born and friends killed. By turns dramatic and comic, The Three Sisters remains a masterful and moving exploration of the human heart and mind.

The play was cast with two sets of the 3 sisters; one are all blonds and one are all brunettes.

This performance features the brunette cast:

Olga -- Sasha Blinnikova

Masha -- Mairead Koehler

Irina -- Sarah Tan

and a blond Natasha -- Grace Black
