Maya Dusenbery '08: Feministing Offline and Unfiltered

"Feministing Offline and Unfiltered: Online feminism, consciousness-raising, and cultural transformation."

Monday, May 19th, 2014
7:30 – 8:30 pm / Leighton 305

Carleton alum Maya Dusenbery ('08) will discuss her work as Executive Director of Editorial at the popular feminist blog Feministing.com. Maya will reflect on the power of online feminism to offer impactful new avenues for activism, challenge mainstream media narratives, and serve as a venue for fourth-wave consciousness-raising -- as well speak to its challenges and limitations. She will discuss recent feminist successes and what's next for the movement -- from trans* liberation to rethinking masculinity to achieving true sexual freedom -- and how you can be involved in your college and post-college lives.
