Lauren Soth’s image of Freeway Park in Seattle has been featured in an online exhibit created by the Digital Public Library of America. The Urban Parks online exhibit, curated by Carla Urban, was published in September 2015, shortly after DPLA harvested thumbnail and data from Carleton's open-access digital collections, starting in May 2015. See the library’s news page: Carleton College's Online Collections now in the Digital Public Library of America

Throughout his teaching career at Carleton, Soth developed 4,873 slides of various sites and architecture from all over the world. Since 2012 the image set was available in the Society of Architectural Historians SAHARA project (only open to the members) and Carleton Digital Collections. With joining DPLA in 2015, his digital content could be searchable by an even wider audience. We encourage you to explore Lauren’s amazing digital slide collection and other Carleton collections intermingled with DPLA content.

From the DPLA mission statement: "The Digital Public Library of America brings together the riches of America’s libraries, archives, and museums, and makes them freely available to the world. It strives to contain the full breadth of human expression, from the written word, to works of art and culture, to records of America’s heritage, to the efforts and data of science. DPLA aims to expand this crucial realm of openly available materials, and make those riches more easily discovered and more widely usable and used...."
