Sophomore Project

FOCUS Journal of Science

FOCUS expanded to include programming for Sophomore students beginning fall of 2013. Structured around a year long, interdisciplinary study of a topic/theme chosen by the FOCUS Faculty Mentor, Sophomore year in FOCUS is a unique chance to become a local expert. Having explored fields of study through your coursework, the Sophomore project provides an opportunity to choose and design a study topic that plays off your interests and strengths while becoming FOCUSed on a single topic within a broader scientific theme. The Sophomore project provides experience in with science journalism while writing for a broad audience and also includes a community component; by performing novel research within Northfield and reaching out to community partners, the Sophomore Project is an opportunity to use science research to potentially impact community well-being.
