  • Felling of the Smoke Stack in 1941

    Friday, September 26, 1941
The original article of the smoke stack from 1941 being replaced with a larger stack. Fast forward to summer 2020, where the larger, higher stack (currently still standing) will be retired and replaced with a much smaller stack. This is due to the Utility Master Plan upgrades and lower emissions production! The 1941 "new" stack was a symbol of growth and prosperity, also marking the college's transition from coal to natural gas. Today's stack is a symbol of our progress with shrinking carbon emissions. Take a look at the two photos on the right - what a difference!
