Monday, July 2, 2018

Drilling of the first geothermal borehole began early this week in the far northeast corner of the Bald Spot. After three days of work two boreholes have been fully drilled, piped, and grouted, the first of which has been drilled to a depth of 533 ft and the second to a depth of 525 ft.

As drilling progresses over the summer, the ends of the pipes that are placed in each of the 133 holes will will be attached to a central line that runs down the east side of the field, which connects directly to the energy station located on the east side of campus.
