Financial Aid

Accessibility is one of Carleton’s top priorities and the financial aid budget represents the single largest expenditure in the operating budget each year

  • In the current school year, 57% of Class of 2017 received need-based Carleton grants, totaling more than $9.9 million.
  • The average need-based Carleton grant is $31,848; the average total financial aid award is $40,569 including scholarships, work study, and loans.
  • In the graduating class of 2012, the average loan-indebtedness was $17,289, compared to a national average of $26,600.
  • Over 70% of Carleton's students hold campus jobs.  Work study at Carleton is guaranteed, which is not the case even at many peer schools.
