In the wake of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, which brought widespread destruction to the Gulf Coast of the United States, Carleton College held an all-campus day of learning, discussion, and reflection. On March 31, 2006 classes were cancelled and a full day of events took place. The Confronting Katrina web site preserves the events of the day in photos, audio, and video, and includes links to background readings, media coverage, and more.

Now, more than three years after Hurricane Katrina, Carleton continues to pursue scholarship and service related to the Gulf Coast crisis and New Orleans recovery. This site will serve as a gateway to this ongoing work.
