Language Placement Testing

If you received a score of 4 or 5 on an AP language or literature examination, a 6 or 7 on a higher-level IB examination, or a qualifying SAT II score (690 or better in French or German; or 650 for Spanish), you do not need to take the Carleton placement exam, and you have completed the basic language requirement. If you would like to continue in one of these languages, you should register for courses numbering above 204.
