Lecture Examines the Economic Implications of the Affordable Care Act

Tom Buchmueller, a respected health economist and member of the Carleton Class of 1985, will discuss the economic implications of the Affordable Care Act in a public presentation on Thursday, April 24 at 4 p.m. in the Gould Library Athenaeum. Entitled “The Affordable Care Act: 2014 and Beyond,” Buchmueller’s presentation is free and open to the public.

Buchmueller is the Waldo O. Hildebrand Professor of Risk Management and Insurance and Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business. His research focuses on the economics of health insurance and related public policy issues. His recent work has examined the relationship between employer-sponsored insurance and labor market outcomes, interactions between the public sector and private insurance markets and consumer demand for health insurance. Buchmueller served as the Senior Health Economist for the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in 2011-2012 and is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.
