Summer Humanities Institute to Screen the National Theatre Live Broadcast of Shakespeare's "Coriolanus"

August 4, 2014

Wednesday, August 6 at 7 p.m., the Weitz Center for Creativity Cinema will feature a not-to-be-missing screening of the National Theatre Live broadcast of Shakespeare's "Coriolanus." This event is free and open to the public.

The Donmar Warehouse's production of "Coriolanus," Shakespeare's searing tragedy of political manipulation and revenge, stars Tom Hiddleston ("The Avengers," "War Horse," The BBC's "The Hollow Crown") in the title role and Mark Gatiss ("Season's Greetings at the National Theatre," The BBC's "Sherlock") as Menenius. The production is directed by the Donmar's Artistic Director Josie Rourke.

National Theatre Live is the National Theatre's groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre live from the London stage to cinemas across the UK and around the world. Learn more about this groundbreaking experience at ntlive.nationaltheatre.org.uk.

"Carleton has just acquired the technology to make it possible to screen National Theatre Live broadcasts, as well as other important performing arts events," reports Steve Richardson, Director of the Arts.

This exciting opportunity is made possible by the Carleton College Summer Humanities Institute. The screening of Shakespeare's "Coriolanus" is a re-broadcast of a previously recorded performance.
