Carleton presents Weekly International Film Forum

Carleton College is pleased to host a weekly International Film Forum, with screenings held Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity Cinema. Featuring films from all around the world, the series premieres September 22 and screenings are free and open to the public.

The International Film Forum is a group dedicated to the viewing and studying of foreign films, developed thought a partnership between the Carleton departments of arts, cinema and media studies, and languages. The screenings are often preceded by a presentation by the director of the film a Carleton professor, or a knowledgeable guest—and then followed by a short discussion session.

Upcoming films during the Fall Term include:

Monday, Sept. 22: “The Wave” (Germany, 2008, 107 min.), directed by Dennis Gansel.

Monday, Sept. 29: “Hannah Arendt” (Germany/Israel/Luxembourg/France, 2012, 113 min.), directed by Margarethe von Trotta.

Monday, Oct. 6: “Keep on Rolling” (Spain, 2011, 56 min), directed by Óscar Clemente; screening will also feature a colloquium with director Óscar Clemente and professor Steven Torres of the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Monday, Oct. 13: “The Square” (Egypt/USA/UK, 2013, 108 min.), directed by Jehane Noujaim.

Monday, Oct. 20: "In The Fog" (Russia, 2012, 127 min.), directed by Sergey Loznitsa.

Monday, Oct. 27: “Marina Abramovich: The Artist Is Present” (USA, 2012, 119 min.), directed by Matthew Akers.

Monday, Nov. 3: “Muy cerca” (Spain, 2012, 17 min.), directed by Iván Caso; and “Los ilusos” (Spain, 2013, 93 min.), directed by Jonás Trueba. These screenings will also include a colloquium with screenwriter Silvia Nanclares.

Monday, Nov. 10: “The Inner Tour” (Israel/Palestine, 2001, 97 min.), directed by Ra'anan Alexandrowicz.

Monday, Nov. 17: “El verano de los peces voladores” (Chile/France, 2013, 95 min.), directed by Marcela Said.
