Carleton presents annual production of “The Vagina Monologues;” All proceeds to benefit the Hope Center

February 13, 2015

Carleton College will present its annual production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Skinner Memorial Chapel. Sometime funny and sometime poignant, this student-produced and student-performed theatrical production is inspired by women’s experiences with sexuality, love and resilience. All of the proceeds, including ticket, t-shirt and candy sales, will be donated to the Hope Center in Faribault.

Tickets will be sold on a $5-$25 sliding scale and can be purchased at the door or inadvance online at https://apps.carleton.edu/campus/gsc/vagmons2015/tickets/.

As part of the global V-Day campaign, Carleton’s annual production of “The Vagina Monologues” brings V-Day’s mission of ending violence against women and girls to Northfield and the surrounding communities. Groups around the world present performances of Ensler’s groundbreaking production and use the proceeds to support local shelters that work to end violence against women and girls. What began as one event in New York City in 1998 today includes over 5,800 V-Day events around the globe.

The Hope Center provides advocacy and support services to survivors of sexual and domestic violence throughout Rice County. In 2014, Carleton’s production of “The Vagina Monologues” raised more than $2,000 for the Hope Center. More at www.hopecentermn.org.
