The public is invited to participate in the fourth annual 5K for HOPE, a run/walk to benefit the HOPE Center, on Saturday, May 9th beginning at 9:30am at the Carleton College Recreation Center. The 5K for HOPE is open to all. Registration is $15 for Carleton students and $30 for non-students. Proceeds from this event will support the HOPE Center, whose mission is to create zero tolerance for sexual and domestic violence through Healing, Outreach, Prevention and Education. The HOPE Center is located in Faribault and serves all of Rice County. Participants can register online at: https://apps.carleton.edu/campus/gsc/5KforHope/registration/.

Event Details

Pre-registration check-in will be from 8:45-9:15am and same day registration will be from 8:30-9:00am. The run/walk will follow a trail through the Carleton Cowling Arboretum. There will be a clock at the end of the trail, but be aware that the walk/run is not officially timed. The event is open to individuals of all ages, their leashed pets, and walk/run strollers.

In Case of Rain

In the case of rain, the race will continue as scheduled, but may be moved to the outdoor track if the Arboretum conditions are too wet. In the case of severe weather (lightning, etc.), the race will be moved inside the Recreation Center or delayed. Carleton will do their best to notify participants via email the morning of the walk/run should the forecast be of concern.

Payment

Registration is $15 for Carleton students and $30 for all non-students. T-shirts will be available to late registrants on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the 5K for HOPE. Two payment options are available: OneCard or credit card. Please remember that you must pay AND fill out the waiver form in order to be fully registered. If costs are prohibitive, please contact tstraight@carleton.edu.

Parking

Parking will be available in the lot behind the Recreation Center; look for the 5K for HOPE signs. Overflow parking will be available off Highway 19 by the lower Arboretum entrance.

Don’t want to run/walk?

The 5K for HOPE needs lots of volunteers. Sign up for a shift to help with setup, parking directing, registration/check-in, trail directing, or clean up on the day of the race. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt for their time. For questions or more information, email tstraight@carleton.edu.
