Stone Arch Bridge final work to begin

July 13, 2016

NORTHFIELD, Minn.—The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) has announced its plans for finalizing work on the historic stone arch bridge on Minnesota state highway 19, which accesses the Carleton College campus from the east.

The bridge structure was replaced last year, and crews will be on site starting on July 18 to begin the second and final phase of work. The bulk of the work will only require a shoulder closure that should last one month.

Starting August 26 the bridge closes for three days so an epoxy chip seal can be applied to the bridge deck. Once that process is completed, the bridge will reopen but lane closures will be in effect so stonework can be installed on the railing.

Work is scheduled to end September 2.
