Comedian Aparna Nancherla to present Asian American Heritage Convocation

April 30, 2017

Comedian Aparna Nancherla will present Carleton’s Asian American Heritage Convocation on Friday, May 5 from 10:50 to 11:50 a.m. in the Skinner Memorial Chapel. Nancherla’s presentation, based on her recently released new album, “Just Putting It Out There,” uses humor to tackle tough personal issues like anxiety and depression.

This event is free and open to the public. Carleton convocations are recorded and archived for online viewing at go.carleton.edu/convo/.

Nancherla is an up-and-coming comedian who has worked as a writer and performer for Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC and she can also been seen on the current season of Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central. In addition to her own television comedy special and tour, she released her debut comedy album “Just Putting It Out There” in July 2016.

Nancherla has also appeared on Crashing, Conan, and Comedy Central’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail. Variety named her to its list of Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2016 and the New York Times described Nancherla as “…a comic in demand for her quirky, relatable and punchy humor.” She is also co-host of Blue Woman Group, which the Daily Beast calls “a hilarious podcast about depression.” More at www.aparnacomedy.com.
