Carleton College Announces Faculty Promotions

The Carleton College Board of Trustees recently approved the promotion of 20 faculty members and the appointment of seven faculty members to emeritus ranking.

The following faculty were promoted from associate professor to professor: Steven M. Drew, professor of chemistry; Humberto R. Huergo, professor of Spanish; Richard A. Keiser, professor of political science; Stephen F. Kennedy, professor of mathematics; Jeffrey R. Ondich, professor of mathematics and computer science; Éva Pósfay, professor of French; Ronald Rodman, professor of music; Gerald L. Young, professor of physical education, athletics, and recreation and Stephan G. Zweifel, professor of biology.

The following faculty were promoted from assistant professor to associate professor: Laurence D. Cooper, associate professor of political science; Tammy Metcalf-Filzen, associate professor of physical education, athletics, and recreation; Alfred P. Montero, associate professor of political science and Debby Rae Walser-Kuntz, associate professor of biology.

The following faculty were promoted from lecturer to senior lecturer: María E. Doleman, senior lecturer in Spanish; Anna Mikhailovna Dotlibova, senior lecturer in Russian and Kenneth Huber, senior lecturer in music.

The following faculty were promoted from instructor to lecturer: Julie Elhard, lecturer in music; Janean Hall, lecturer in music; Elinor Niemisto, lecturer in music and David Whetstone, lecturer in music.

In addition, seven retiring faculty members now hold professor emeritus positions. They are: Charles H. Carlin, the Charles “Jim” and Marjorie Kade Professor Emeritus of the Sciences; Gary H. Iseminger, the Stephen R. Lewis, Jr. Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Liberal Learning; Timothy L. Lloyd, the Class of 1941 Professor Emeritus of Art and the Liberal Arts; Perry C. Mason, the John E. Sawyer Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Liberal Learning; Richard J. Noer, the Laurence McKinley Gould Professor Emeritus of the Natural Sciences; Lauren Soth, professor emeritus of art history and Carl D. Weiner, the W. H. Laird Professor Emeritus of History and the Liberal Arts.
