J. Grundy's Rueb 'N' Stein Presents Carleton's "Prof Rockers," The Counterfactuals

April 18, 2012

One of Northfield's favorite live bands, The Counterfactuals, just happens to be comprised of three Carleton professors, along with a faculty member from nearby St. Olaf College. The popular will band will perform Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. at J. Grundy's Rueb 'N' Stein in downtown Northfield. This is a 21+ older event, with no cover charge.

Voted "Northfield's Best Band" in 2010, The Counterfactuals are assistant professors of philosophy Daniel Groll and Jason Decker, along with assistant professor of music Andy Flory (and Mike Fuerstein, an assistant professor of philosophy at St. Olaf). Currently recording their debut album (set for release this fall), The Counterfactuals are garnering lots of buzz, here in Northfield and also in the Twin Cities.

The Counterfactuals were recently featured on "The Local Show" on 89.3 FM The Current's online blog as one of four "local bands that deserve must-hear status." One of the demos from their forthcoming debut album also premiered on-air. The band has been featured numerous times on KYMN's (Northfield) "All-Wheel Drive" (1080 AM) and were recently profiled by Carleton sophomore (and philosophy major) (Seattle) on Northfield Citizens Online, www.northfield.org.

Joining The Counterfactuals as part of this fantastic double-bill showcasing some of Northfield's best live music are the also popular Rice County Roosters, who will take the stage following The Counterfactuals at 10 p.m. The Rice County Roosters, featuring nationally-acclaimed singer/songwriter (and music producer) Michael Morris (and a member of The Cave's management team) and his band, archive "the hits" from yesteryear and today, reinventing radio classics with their unique and lovely alt-country stylings.
