Carleton Symphony Band Presents Spring Concert

Carleton College’s Symphony Band, directed by Ronald Rodman, will present its spring performance on Friday, May 11 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall.  The concert—featuring works by Gustav Holst, Richard Rogers, Frank Ticeli, Danny Elfman, Arvo Part, and Antonin Dvorak—is free and open to the public.

Ronald Rodman, Dye Family Professor of Music and Director of the Carleton Symphony Band, earned his Ph.D. in Music Theory from Indiana University. He has studied subjects including the use of music in electronic media, post-tonal theory in the 20th century, and wind band music history. In addition to directing the Symphony Band, Rodman is also a consultant to the AP Music Theory program, and has published numerous articles in professional music journals. His most recent publication is Tuning In: American Narrative Television Music (Oxford University Press, 2009)
