Matican '20 and Collins '22 recognized at Midwest College Journalism Convention

The staff of the Carletonian, Carleton's independent, fully student-run newspaper of record since 1877, recently attended the Associated Collegiate Press Best of the Midwest College Journalism Convention in Minneapolis. Two student writers, Ross Matican '20 (Tenafly, N.J.) and Nicole Collins '22 (Brookline, Mass.), were recognized for their work.

In the 2019 "Best of Show" Awards, Matican placed 4th in the "News Story" category for an article he wrote about a Department of Justice Antitrust Division investigation into early decision college admissions, and Collins placed 9th in the "Editorial/Commentary" category for an op-ed she wrote about what dating is like as a transgender woman.
