Miranda Blue ’06 Receives Writing Honors

A story written by Miranda Blue ’06 for the inaugural issue of The Lens Magazine recently received a third-place diversity Story of the Year award from the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP). Lens editors Anna Duchon ’08, Dashini Jeyathurai ’08, Lila Battis ’10, and business manager Andrew Navratil ’07 accepted the award on her behalf on October 29 at the ACP’s National College Media Convention in St. Louis. The Story of the Year award, co-sponsored by the American Society of Newspaper Editors, recognizes initiative and the original reporting of a situation, problem or issue affecting students. Judges look for entries which demonstrate leadership, sensitivity, fairness, and quality of writing. Blue’s story, “Language Not Lost,” tells how the Standing Rock Sioux nation is recovering its indigenous dialects.
