Gao Hong Awarded Three Grants

Gao Hong, adjunct instructor in Chinese musical instruments, has been awarded three grants—two as a composer and one as a performer. The MetLife Creative Connections Grant from Meet the Composer Inc. in New York supported Hong as one of three composers to attend the Zeitgeist Composer Workshop event. This was a five-day workshop designed to give emerging composers the opportunity to develop their creative ideas and stretch their artistic boundaries in an environment that celebrates exploration and experimentation. Hong has also been chosen to receive The St. Paul Listens grant from the American Composer Forum. This program will commission her to write a work to be performed and recorded by Zeitgeist to engage children and adults in listening to a new musical work. Hong is the one of the first three composers to be selected for this new project.
