Susannah Ottaway Speaks on "Institutionalizing the Aging Body"

Susannah Ottaway, Associate Professor of History, gave a keynote address entitled "Institutionalizing the Aging Body" at an interdisciplinary conference held at the Institute for the History, Philosophy and Ethics of Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. She also delivered a paper entitled "'A secure provision for the indigent is to the philanthropist what a pine-apple is to the epicure…': Political Economy and the Rights of Welfare Recipients in Late Eighteenth-Century England" at the International Society for Utilitarian Studies Conference at the University of California, Berkeley in September.
