Hindu Festival Attracts People with Ceremony and Dinner

“Ganesh Chathurti: A Hindu Festival” was held on Saturday, September 18 in Skinner Memorial Chapel. The event was sponsored by the Chaplain’s Office and organized by various Hindu students of Carleton College. With several Hindu students dressed in traditional clothing, the one hour event featured a public ceremony to worship Lord Ganesh, singing of mantras and songs, a vegetarian dinner and desserts and concluded with a trip to cast flowers into the river. The festival attracted students as well as members of the Northfield community.
