Welcome to my home page. I am an Associate Professor in the philosophy department at Carleton College and an Affiliate Faculty Member at the Center for Bioethics at the University of Minnesota.

My research is in ethics, with a focus on issues in normative ethics and biomedical ethics. I am currently working on a book entitled The Need to Know (under contract with Oxford University Press) about the value of knowing who your genetic progenitors are and what that means for gamete donation/conception.

You can learn more about my other research here. You might also check out my PhilPapers page and my Academia.edu page.

In my spare time, I play music with The Counterfactuals and Dark Years and, most recently, Louis and Dan (and The Invisible Band)
