Right now I'm excited about my project that examines how the Latin American telenovela haunts American prime time television: within shows as disparate as House and My Name Is Earl; featured thematically, narratively, and generically through Ugly Betty; and attempted through programs like Fashion House. Deeply aligned with questions of Americanization, the contemporary adoption of the telenovela shows a fascination and suspicion of U.S. Latinos.
