Art & Art History

Juliane Shibata is teaching Advanced Ceramics during Spring Term 2017. She creates botanical installations that reflect on the relationships between humans and the natural world. Shibata has been an artist in residence at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Tennessee and The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China. She received a 2014 Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This past year, she has participated in exhibitions at Instinct Art Gallery and Veronique Wantz Gallery in Minneapolis, KOBO Gallery in Seattle, Otterbein University in Ohio, and Bedford Gallery in California. Her work belongs to the permanent collection of Northern Arizona University’s Art Museum and the Brown-Forman Collection.
