Highlights & Recent Activity

Mezzo-soprano Victoria Vargas returned to Minnesota Opera this season as the Third Lady in Magic Flute and last season as a guest artist in the role of Mrs. Lowe in The Manchurian Candidate and in the title role of Carmen, which she also recently sang with Lyric Opera of the North (Duluth). Previously, she spent four seasons as a Resident Artist with Minnesota opera singing over ten roles of various sizes with the company. She has apprenticed with several companies around the country. She has also placed second in Upper Midwest regionals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Most recently, Ms. Vargas sang with the Minnesota Orchestra, and made her debut with the Phoenix Symphony. She will make her debut with the South Dakota Symphony this spring.She is on faculty at Carleton College and the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. Mrs. Vargas holds her Bachelors in Vocal Performance from the State University of New York and her Masters in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.

VICTORIA VARGAS (Voice) holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the State University of New York at Fredonia.  She has performed with some of the finest opera companies in the United States including the Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Chautauqua Opera, Sarasota Opera, the Ash Lawn-Highland Opera Festival, and was a resident artist with Minnesota Opera.  Mrs. Vargas is also on the faculty at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis.
