Laird's sundial was designed by Raymond Jacobon, Professor of Art, Emeritus, in memory of Laudie Porter of the Carleton Music Department. The base of the sundial, of a much earlier date, bears the inscription: Love alters not, nor light, with time's swift flight. The bench behind serves as Laird's outside chat room.
