Medical Services:

Appointments – for when you want to schedule your care in advance

Same-Day Care – for when you need to be seen on short notice--subject to provider availability.

Phone Consultation – for when you have questions about whether you need to receive care or wonder whether you should be seen at SHAC or at a local clinic.

Services we provide:

Acute Illnesses

  • eye, ear, nose, throat infections
  • colds and flu
  • skin infections
  • bladder infections
  • nausea, vomiting  and diarrhea

Sexual Health:

  • Birth Control - education about methods; prescriptions; refills
  • Pap Testing
  • Treatment of yeast and vaginal infections
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling
  • Emergency Contraception (Plan B)
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) testing
  • Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV
  • Condoms available

Injuries:

  • Abrasions, small cuts
  • Sprains, strains
  • Minor burns 

Laboratory Services:

  • Rapid Strep Throat
  • Mononucleosis 
  • Urine Pregnancy Testing
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, HIV, Syphilis)

For other labs, we can draw blood and/or collect specimens for analysis at off-campus labs.

Prescriptions/Dispensary:

Our medical staff can write prescriptions to be filled at local pharmacies.  A limited variety of commonly prescribed medications are able to be dispensed at SHAC.

  • Sexual assault; sexual abuse
  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Stress, sleep problems 
  • Relationships

Assistance navigating healthcare system beyond SHAC:

Services Contracted with Other Agencies to Provide On-Campus:

  • Immunizations (Performed at SHAC by Homeland Health)

Services Not Provided:

  • Imaging (X-ray; MRI; CT)
  • Allergy shots (You can get your allergy injections at the Allina Medical Clinic, 507-663-9000. Please note: Northfield Clinic no longer provides this service.)
  • Suturing
  • ADHD medications (click here for more information about ADHD care options)
  • Storage of personal medications for students. We suggest purchasing a refrigerator or lock box to use in your dorm room. Lockable medicine containers are available to purchase at a reduced cost at Sterling Drug, 700 Division St., Northfield.
