Music Theory - MUSC.1215
About the Workshop
The Music Theory Workshop will address the issues of pedagogy in music theory for the high-school student, especially focusing on the AP® Music Theory exam. Included in the workshop will be various approaches to teaching musical fundamentals, harmony, counterpoint, sight-singing and ear training, and analysis. We will also explore the growing area of technology in the music theory classroom through examination of music composition software, MIDI, and computer-assisted instruction. The course is designed for all high school teachers who wish to implement music theory into their existing curriculum, and is especially useful to those who are/will be teaching music theory courses leading up to the administration of the Advanced Placement® Music exam.
