Green Wars is going strong!

20 February 2012

Green Wars – Carleton’s annual inter-dorm energy-savings competition – started last Monday and continues until this Friday. The dorm that reduces their energy usage by the highest percentage will win a Kurry Kabab lunch during exam reading days at the end of the term!

In addition to the dorm competition, lots of special environmentally-related events are going on. Here are some highlights: (Check out the home Sustainability page for the full calendar!)

-Yesterday, Sunday the 19th, we held a screening of the documentary King Corn at the Weitz Center cinema. The film follows two friends who decide to grow their own acre of corn in an attempt to uncover the crop’s role in the U.S. food system. It’s available in Carleton’s library for those who weren’t able to make it yesterday!

-This Tuesday, the 21st, will be a student sustainability panel in conjunction with the off-campus studies office. Students who studied abroad in Panama, Namibia, Denmark, Ecuador, and more will share what they learned about sustainability during their travels. 6 pm, Leighton 402, pizza provided!

Hope to see everyone on Tuesday, and we’ll have more info coming next week about which dorm won!
