Going digital: The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded a $100,000 “Collaborative Planning for the Digital Humanities” grant to Carleton, St. Olaf, and Macalester to promote the use of technology for teaching and research in the humanities, and to provide access to source materials.

Fulbright Fellowships: Six Carls have been awarded Fulbright Fellowships to pursue graduate work abroad: Katie Deeg ’12, Elizabeth Durham ’12, Grace Ogilby ’12, Jesse Pittman ’12, Jake Reznick ’12, and Zach Hyman ’08. The federally funded program’s mission is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

Ultimate victory: Men’s Ultimate Frisbee team Gods of Plastic (GOP) won the Division III national championship in May, defeating the University of Puget Sound (Washington) 14–12. GOP has won three national titles in the past four years.
