Correction

In a story on the Cabinet of Wonders (Place Setting, summer), we stated that Nancy Gast Riss ’77 was the first female student to receive distinction in economics at Carleton. In fact, she was the 24th. (The first two women to graduate with distinction in economics were Kathryn Hoffman and Beatrice Wardell in 1932.) We regret the error.
