The LTC Fellows and the Student Observer Program

November 17, 2014
By Fred Hagstrom, LTC Director

Earlier in the term I sent out a link about this program.  The Carleton student observer program was noted in an online journal on teaching.  It explains the value of the program in clear terms.  Click here to read the complete article, again.

Annie FlynnMy name is Annie Flynn, and I’m a senior Studio Art major from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I’m also focusing on Spanish and Educational Studies, and I will be student teaching next year to receive a K-12 Visual Arts teaching license. I’m a member of Semaphore, Carleton’s modern dance company, and dance has been a central part of my life since elementary school. In addition to being an LTC Fellow, I work in Carleton’s arboretum and the Gould Library, all three of which balance each other very well. Other interests include traveling – I’ve been fortunate enough to study abroad twice at Carleton – and reading everything I possibly can.

Ibad Jafri

My name is Ibad Jafri, and I'm a member of the Class of 2017 from Eagan, Minnesota. I look forward to declaring myself as a double-major in Political Science/International Relations and Cinema and Media Studies. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, reading about global politics, and singing in an acappella group, Intertwining Melodies. I deeply enjoy my work as a Perlman Fellow and finds it to be very unique.

I was drawn to work with the LTC for a host of reasons, among them the fact that they provide a special, irreplaceable service. We dive deeper into the phenomena behind learning and contribute to Carleton's supportive environment by teaching both students and professors skills that they can apply not only in educational institutions, but wherever else they should choose to go in life.

Minji JangMy name is Minji and I'm a senior Philosophy major from Busan, South Korea. This is my second (and last) year as a Student Fellow, and I'm excited to work with the two new awesome fellows! If you have read my blurb from the last year's newsletter, I still love Broadway musicals and fantasy fictions, but I quit learning Chinese. What else is new? I'm beginning to take ballet lessons next term, so we'll see how long that lasts!

Ta'Sierra Johnson

My name is Ta’Sierra Johnson, and I am a Senior AFAM major. I am from Chicago, and I hope to be a teacher after graduation. I spent the summer working with a principal in Chicago so that I could gain administrative experience. In addition to being a LTC fellow, I am tutor children in Northfield.
