David's work showing in summer and fall 2010

May 13, 2010

Beginning in April, David Lefkowitz's work will be on exhibition in several locations. "Going Yard! Art About Baseball" shows at the Thomas Barry Fine Arts in Minneapolis April 24-May 22.

"Shedding Light:Art Explores Science" opened May 7 and runs through June 6 at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI. The exhibition offers visual and visceral accounts in a range of scientific realms. The artworks ask some very human questions about how we experience and relate to science and the natural world in today's high-tech, eco-anxious world.

Beginning June 5, "David Lefkowitz: at or below see level" opens at the Thomas Barry Fine Arts. It's a solo show of new work exploring the relation of what's visible to the naked eye  to our knowledge of the world. July 10 is the final day of this exhibition. The opening reception is June 26, 4-7 p.m.

The Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota hosts "Ordinarily Here" beginning June 19. The exhibition closes a year-long series exploring art and the everyday. Other Minnesota artists along with David will present programs including artist tours in the gallery.

July 16, "Impact" opens at the Bloomington Art Center. Works will explore society's affect on nature. David's work takes a somewhat humorous yet nonetheless poignant look at the "civilized" world in relation to its natural environment. The show is open through August 27.

Finally, the Walker Art Center's Open Field program will include David assuming his role as a foreman of the Manual Image Assemblers Local 47 in hosting the Drawing Club. Everyone is welcome to come and join in for some inspired collective markmaking, in David's words. Pencils and paper provided. The event is August 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. The day is sponsored by mnartists.org. For more information go to mnartists.org/fieldday. The event will include activities for artists and art supporters throughout the day from lawn games to sing-along concerts.
