Carleton/Northfield Musicians Present The Music of China

The Northfield Youth Choir and the Carleton Singers will join with the Carleton Chinese Music Ensemble to present of evening Chinese choral music in Carleton’s Concert Hall on Sun., Feb. 26 at 4:30 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.

The concert, which will feature over 100 singers and musicians from throughout the Northfield community, will include performances by the Northfield Youth Choir, directed by Elizabeth Shepley; the Carleton Singers, directed by Lawrence Burnett; and the Carleton College Chinese Music Ensemble, directed by Gao Hong. The concert culminates a residency by Gao Hong with the Northfield Youth Choirs, and will include arrangements of traditional Chinese music as well as new compositions by Gao Hong written specifically for this occasion.

This event was funded in part by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the Legacy Amendment vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.
